We had a veritable cornucopia of wondrous words to select from for this weeks endeavor. Once again, I was a Choosy Fellow and chose carefully or randomly…

Forty-Two
I know what I am searching for
or I did yesterday
As I shouldered my questions
and expectations
Which are both simple
like stones on the path
Or as complex as rivulets
of stagnant ideas on
once fertile minds
I thought that I knew what
I was
searching for
Tomorrow…

Oh! I love this. Simple yet textured. Soft yet expressive. Brief, yet says so much. I can relate to this (just wait until you’re 52). I love these line breaks
I thought that I knew what
I was
searching for
Yes, life is so much about the Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow…
Very nice, Mark.
Well, Forty-Two came from Hitch-Hiker’s Guide.…Glad you liked it. I need to noodge it around a bit here and there, methinks.…
I like the terse wit and clarity of this, pithy but still personal, especially with the oblique but appropriate title. Like any really good punchline, the ending is both so unexpected but so obvious once you hear it.
Clever and humorous. I liked it.
Well I’m glad that at forty two you understand that you will never
ever really know anything!
I like the contradictions in this and the Hitch Hikers Guide reference
tomorrow tomorrow.…no kidden…where and what??..anyways thanks for this…nicely done
Reminds of me that bit from Confucius: at twenty this, at thirty that, etc. Thoughtful, and more certain, I think, than you let on.
Hi Mark,
“Or as complex as rivulets
of stagnant ideas on
once fertile minds”
I like that very much. Nothing is quite as it seems is it?!
This reached me, stayed with me. Thanks!
Glad to find another Hitchhiker enthusiast! Yes, I loved the punch of the final words here.
