3WW CXCVIII — Tender Mercy #26
Slogging along, another in the Tender Mercy series of poems that hang together only because I believe they do…
This one is inspired in part by 3WW and you can play too by visiting the site!
Tender Mercy #26
Overture to a
Sixty Second Interval,
Contemplation mounts,
A Spring collection
Flutters in the
Disinterested breeze.
An isolated victim
Live at the Marquee,
Primary colours
Shading the lies
Nostalgia for what
Was never mine.
Bait and switch memories
Corrupted database
The Soul’s Bane;
When the old stories
fade from view
An Illogical jump step
In the dance of legislation,
Sorrow for a sparrow.

This one is deep. Nice one.
Thanks, Anthony…
I had to read it twice, just to appreciate all the lines. Very rich writing.
Thanks much, Thom. The words worked well with where my mind was today…

No More A Victim
I love the line “nostalgia for what was never mine.” I concur with the other comments, great depth to this piece!
sorry it took me so long to pop in here — mind’s been away from the internets lately.
wow, mark. this is wonderful, really. I can read my own loss and regret in it, and I can feel yours deeply. so powerful, when a poem can hold meaning for both the poet and the reader. well done, dude.
I love that last line — It’s beautiful.
